Empowering Every Girl Through Sport

Building Confidence. Creating Opportunity. Inspiring Leaders.

Island Girls Intramurals (IGI) is a community-based nonprofit dedicated to creating more opportunities for girls to play, grow, and lead through sports. We believe every girl deserves a place to belong, build confidence, and discover her potential—regardless of experience or skill level.

Our Story

Born from a vision to bridge the gap in girls' sports accessibility, IGI started as a small local initiative on Nantucket. Our journey is paved with the stories of young athletes who found their voice on the field, overcoming barriers and building lasting friendships through the power of intramural competition.

Our Mission

To provide inclusive, high-quality athletic programming that empowers girls to develop physically, mentally, and socially. We strive to remove financial and social barriers, ensuring that every girl in our community has the chance to play and lead.

Our Vision

A community where every girl is physically active, confident in her abilities, and equipped with the leadership skills to excel in sports and in life. We envision a future where gender equity in sports is the standard, not the exception.

Our Core Values

At IGI, we are guided by a set of principles that define how we play and how we grow together:

  • Inclusivity: We welcome every girl exactly as she is.
  • Confidence: We build self-assurance through positive athletic experiences.
  • Leadership: We cultivate the next generation of community leaders.
  • Teamwork: We foster collaboration and mutual respect.
  • Integrity: We play fair and act with honesty on and off the field.
  • Joy: We celebrate the pure fun of playing sports.
